Ponche Navideño Recipe

Mexico is a second home for me and one treat I always look forward to every Christmas during my visits is the Ponche Navideño ( Christmas Punch) my husbands family makes at their gatherings. I finally decided to try making it on my own a few years back. The beauty of this belly warming beverage besides it amazing flavor is just how easy it is to make. Oh and the aroma that will come from your kitchen is beyond amazing! Another way to bump it up a notch is to add piquete (liquor) to the ponche if desired. Brandy or Rum are what’s traditionally used right in the pot or added to your cup upon serving. TIP: Keeping the liquor separate allows the entire family to enjoy. I hope your holidays are fill with the warmth of your family and the comfort of this ponche! Buen provecho!

  1. In a large Ola (pot) add all your fruits and cover with water. 5 Quart or larger
  2. Add the cinnamon sticks and piloncillo, sampling along the way for sweetness and cinnamon level.
  3. Remove cinnamon once desired flavor is attained so it doesn't start to break up.
  4. Cook until the fruit is tender. Aprox 1-2 hours.
  5. Serve hot and enjoy!
